Consumer Law

Smith, Tollefson & Rahrick's attorneys have litigated a number of cases under statutes protecting consumer rights, including significant and precedent-setting cases involving Minnesota’s comprehensive consumer protection statutes.

Many smaller disputes can be handled by the parties themselves in small claims court. In appropriate cases, the Consumer Affairs Division of the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office will handle consumer scams, and the Minnesota Department of Commerce will bring actions involving unlawful practices by insurers, realtors, and investment advisors and sellers of securities.
