Richard E. Tollefson Rick Tollefson of Smith, Tollefson & Rahrick was born in 1952 and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1970. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he was a member of Phi Betta Kappa, and graduated summa cu laude in 1974. He attended the University of Minnesota Law School, graduating in 1977. During law school he clerked for the firm of John M. Smith in Owatonna. After graduation he practiced with Mr. Smith, with whom he formed the partnership of Smith & Tollefson in 1980. Rick is a member of the Steele County, Fifth District, and Minnesota State Bar Associations. He served as President of the Fifth District Bar Association, and currently serves on the District's Ethics Committe. He has served as Chair of the Steele County DFL, and has chaired its county convention for many years. Rick is a member of the bars of, and has practiced before, the Minnesota Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, and the United States Tax. He served as class counsel in the Minnesota 1991 State Lottery class action litigation. A true general practitioner, his active areas of practice include personal injury, wrongful death, family law, criminal law, civil litigation, probate, municipal law, and real estate.
